Our target group
 
Our target group are landless laborers in Mae Wang, a district 50 kilometers from Chiang Mai.
The first of the month is when we visit them for our rice sponsor plan.
We bring them enough rice to eat for the coming month.
 
These people describe their life as "searching for food from day to day" (haa kin pen wan wan).
In our village Ban Kad between 30 to 40% of the inhabitants are landless laborers.
Being a laborer pays 120 baht per day ($ 3.52 / € 2.60).
 
Sticky rice is the staple food in Chiang Mai Province.
People usually eat 1 liter per day.
For our target group having enough rice is a daily worry.
 
We buy the rice for 10 baht per liter ($ 0.29 / € 0.21).
Every month we will bring each person 30 liters for 300 baht ($ 8.82 / € 6.52).
In this way at least they won't have to worry about their daily rice.
